![]() Since I have a modest programming background in a variety of environments, g-code seems rather intuitive at a high level. Somehow I knew the issue would eventually come down to what I commonly refer to as "political." I think I understand that there is a core set of standardized g-code that every machine will recognize and use properly, and some machines have an extended set of commands, and some can be customized or handle code differently (such as multiple instructions on a single line).ĭoes anyone know if there is a standard or basic selection out of cam softwares? So he wants to know what machine to select for what I'm using? He said that if he exported as Fanuc g-code, the code would probably not work with my machine and cause it to hang or crash, same with Bridgeport since I'm no longer using a Bridgeport controller, and he does not know how to take a definition of code language and work that into his cam software. He said that a g-code to move the z-axis would be different from one machine to the next, so I'd to know what machine to use. ![]() He says in his cam programs, that to export g-code, you have select the machine type, and he said Bridgeport, Fanuc, and a few others.and Mach3 was not in the list. ![]() I thought I was aware of what G-Code was, until my friend said that not all g-code is the same and it is machine specific. ![]()
